Server log files

When you access our website, your browser automatically transmits information to our server. This includes your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, and the browser and operating system used. This information is stored temporarily in server log files in order to ensure the secure and stable operation of the website and to detect and prevent misuse. To protect against abuse, we additionally record, for a short period, the number of login, registration and signup attempts originating from an IP address.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in the secure and stable operation of the website. Log files are stored for as long as needed for these purposes, records of attempts for no more than one hour.

Usage statistics

We keep statistics in order to understand how our website is used. When a page is opened, our server adds to daily totals derived from the request your browser sends in any case: the page, the page of our website or the domain of the external website from which you arrived, the type of device or operating system, and a label contained in the link, if any. Links in our Journal and in our emails may contain such a label; it is the same for all recipients. Journal entries contain a small image near their end, the loading of which is counted in the same way. When you sign up, the page from which you reached the sign-up is counted, and is held in your session until the sign-up is complete.

These totals contain no IP addresses and no identifiers, are not linked to a user account, and cannot be attributed to a person. We use no cookies or local storage for this purpose, and the information in the request is not retained for it once the totals have been updated.

The legal basis for this brief processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in understanding the use of our website and improving it.

Third-party content

Certain content on our website is loaded directly from the servers of third parties. For this purpose, your browser establishes a connection to the respective servers, whereby your IP address and information about your browser are transmitted to the provider. We do not transmit any further personal data to these providers.

Fonts. Our website uses fonts provided by Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) and Bunny Fonts (BunnyWay d.o.o., Cesta komandanta Staneta 4A, 1215 Medvode, Slovenia). Data may also be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision pursuant to Art. 45 GDPR.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in a consistent presentation of our website. Further information can be found in the privacy policies of Google and Bunny.

Cookies and local storage

We do not use cookies or local storage for tracking, analytics or advertising purposes. We use only the following technically necessary cookies and local storage:

  • sessionid keeps you signed in and stores the progress of a registration. It is deleted when you sign out, or after two weeks at the latest.
  • csrftoken protects forms against cross-site request forgery. It is stored for one year.
  • plattform.sidebar (local storage) stores the display setting of the sidebar in the signed-in area. It is not transmitted to us.

The storage of and access to this information is strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested and therefore does not require consent (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). The legal basis for the associated processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

User accounts

Registration for a user account is open to anyone; however, a user account can only be used once we have manually reviewed and accepted the registration. When you register, we process the data you provide, in particular your email address and password, as well as the data required to administer the account. To verify your email address, we send you a confirmation code. Passwords and confirmation codes are stored exclusively in hashed form.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as it is necessary to provide the account. Your data is stored for as long as the account exists. While your registration awaits acceptance, you may delete your account at any time via the waiting page.

Newsletter and notifications

You may register your interest to be notified about specific events, such as the launch of ADA, or subscribe to our newsletter. For this purpose, we process your email address and your selection. Your registration only takes effect once you have confirmed your email address using the code we send you (double opt-in).

The legal basis for this processing is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by using the unsubscribe link contained in each newsletter or by contacting us at privacy@…. Your data is stored until you withdraw your consent.

We do not sell personal data, nor do we disclose it for advertising purposes. Personal data is disclosed only to the following recipients:
